Quality Construction
Neubauer Carriage Doors offers handcrafted custom wood garage doors built with kiln-dried hem-fir wood frames, various wood choices like mahogany and cedar, and customizable inlays and overlays. They use high-quality hardware, insulated glass options, and reliable Liftmaster openers. Installation services may be available depending on location, and doors can be finished with a variety of stains or paints to suit individual preferences.
Frame
The overhead garage door frame is constructed with 1-1/2” LVL (laminated veneer lumber) for its stability and strength. Each sections meeting rail has a 1/4” shiplap joint to act as a weather blockade. The frame rails and stiles are joined with mortise and tenon joinery along with type 3 waterproof glue.
The backside of the garage door frames, or what is visible from the inside of your garage is a clear stain grade 1/4” exterior grade mahogany plywood that creates a finished look.
Wood Choices
Popular choices are quarter sawn sapele mahogany, Sipo mahogany, clear vertical grain western red cedar, clear vertical grain Douglas fir, Spanish cedar and Armorite. For painted doors I’d recommend Tricoya and Armorite composites.
Inlay
The inlay of the garage door can be made up with endless designs. The most popular choices are 5” and 3” v-match, raised panels, flat panels, and beadboard. Inlay materials are held together with hidden stainless steel fasteners and waterproof glues
Overlay/Trim
The overlay is the trim around the door and windows. Endless designs are available for the layout of the overlay. My typical overlay edge profile is a 1/2” radius thumbnail. Many other profiles are available. There are no visible fasteners or plugs used on stain grade doors
Windows
Dsb uninsulated true divided glass is the standard but 1/2” insulated, tempered, and obstructed glass is available. Simulated divided windows are available with interior removable grills. If your garage is heated or well insulated you would want insulated glass to eliminate condensation
Hardware
We use 2” and 3” clip angle track of various radius’s, high lift and low headroom, torsion spring system, nylon rollers, steel struts, aluminum bottom retainer with bulb seal and vinyl perimeter seal. Powder-coated hardware of many colors is also available.
Openers
We use Liftmaster 3/4 hp, battery backup, WiFi compatible, and come in either side mount or trolley configurations.
INSTALLATION
Neubauer Carriage Doors can take care of the entire installation of your new doors throughout NH,ME,MA,VT,RI,and CT. Our team of installers have been working with us for over 13 years!
Finish
Doors can be finished with 3 coats of Proluxe Door & Window Cetol, Proluxe Log & Siding, or Proluxe SRD for a stain grade door. Ben Moore primer and latex can be applied for a painted door.
